August Photos

This month Mavis has mastered the art of squinting her eyes in addition to the nose wrinkle smile. It's quite the combo and makes picture taking rather interesting!

It's hard to believe that just two months ago I was still keeping track of all the words she knew and now she is singing complete songs (well almost complete songs). Where has my baby gone?

An indoor pool that was transformed into a ball pit. It was just as amazing in person.  Lining it were big slides that dumped you into it. You can't even dream this stuff up.
Unfortunately no adults allowed. Boo.

The aftermath of a friend's birthday party. Chocolate ice cream stains, upside down glasses, and a band-aid. Party hard M, party hard.
Proud M after completing this puzzle all by herself. I had been helping her assuming she couldn't do it and then one day when I was on the phone I watched her do the whole thing. Simply amazing what those little minds are capable of!

Playing "spa" with the play-doh. She is currently undergoing a cucumber treatment. Ahh, what a life!
Fishing pond at a park. For the equivalent of a few dollars your toddler can attempt to scoop out a goldfish. These things are everywhere.

At the very sad Beijing Zoo. This is the only halfway decent picture I could get of the Panda because of the crowds. The pandas were one of the few animals that were actually in a decent enviorment.
The bear enclosure. It's all cement, there were no trees, and they had painted another bear on the side. The stuff on the ground is garbage people had thrown in. I will spare you from the remainder of the photos taken at the zoo, they are very similar to this one.
Several people had these hats on although I never could get a good picture. They were umbrella hats to keep the sun off your face. It's nice sometimes that anything goes here. Anything.
Enjoying my birthday lunch. Couldn't have imagined better company!
Mavis enjoying her rain boots from my aunt Patty. She had been begging me to wear them for weeks and then it finally rained....
On her new bike. Complete with a "hat" and a horn. She was so proud to be able to be like the big kids.
