View from the post office

Maybe my expectations are too high but in a city of 1.4 million people I expected the post offices to be more state of the art than Little House on the Prairie.

The view from the door. Those are unopened mail bags that have been delivered that were just dropped in the lobby.  This couple decided to go through them on their own, they are not employees.
The picture shows the pile of packages that has been sorted. It always takes a few minutes for them to go through everything to find a package for me even though I can spot it from the door, generally because as you can tell from this picture, it's one of the few packages actually in a box. The rest are in wrapped potato sacks or pillow cases. You can see her looking for my packages in this photo even though my two boxes are clearly sitting on the floor on the right hand side of the window.

Is that wine in the cabinet? Why not I guess, right? This is our driver standing in line to mail a letter for me. It took 45 minutes because the envelope was a square and they didn't know what to do with it because it wasn't standard. The end result? We had to put it inside a larger standard envelope. Seems odd that you can't send an odd-sized letter but you can send a package in a potato sack.

Applying glue with a paint brush to the back of the stamps...

Ahh safe and sound at home. Maybe the boxes were used in lieu of soccer balls at a playground somewhere on their journey but at least they got to me in one piece, and I couldn't be happier.
