April Memories

A few pics from April...

Even if a place has a western toilet often times they will have signs asking you not to flush the toilet paper as the plumbing isn't sufficient to handle it.  It's harder than you'd think to actually master this task.

At this particular restaurant someone has graciously corrected the typo to not throw "ipads" in the toilet either.

Girls night in Beijing at one of our favorite restaurants.

The first Coors light we've seen. I think it cost $12. Totally,  100% worth it.  You generally can't find U.S. beers at bars. If you get lucky they'll have Budweiser (not Bud Light) and sometimes a Heineken.

I've been telling Steve that I'm not getting fatter and that our clothes dryer is shrinking all our clothes. He put on his sweatpants one night and sure enough....something tells me Steve didn't grow 5 inches overnight.

The equivalent of a snack vendor in the U.S. except there's no bag of Skittles or cold soda, just candied fruit and meat.

A Saturday in the one large park in our town. Hundreds of people come. I suppose this is one nice benefit to living in a city where everyone lives in an apartment because no one can opt to just hang out in their backyard instead. People bring tents to protect themselves from the sun. It actually takes your breath away at the sense of community and the number of people that come out to be with their families. I wish the pictures did it justice.

The park has an area where they sell toys and kites. Kite flying is huge here. On a Saturday at the park the sky will be filled with kites, one almost on top of the next.

Steve, Maeve, and a few Chinese kids that wanted to play with our bubbles too.   When you are at the park everyone shares everything, you can't get away with playing by yourself.

Our kite. It's a huge Hello Kitty. Steve let Maeve pick it out.  Turns out Steve is a pretty decent kite flyer.
Examining the doll bed the Easter Bunny brought her.
Of course the full inspection had to include a test run...

Proudly displaying the ring pop Nana sent her for Easter.
